Magic 42 Selected among 110 in ArchiNEXT's Preliminary Screening

It was a successful first year for ArchiNEXT: HCG Young Designers' Competition!

One hundred ten (110) third and fourth year United Architects of the Philippines Student Auxiliary (UAPSA) affiliated students submitted entries on their version of Sustainable Community Comfort Area (SCCA).

To ensure that only the most deserving entries will be declared winners, rigorous screenings were staged. As part of the elimination round, a preliminary screening was held in United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) Headquarters last February 24, 2015.

During the whole-day process, four (4) esteemed architects expert in their own fields scrutinized the entries:

• Arch. Luis Ferrer- uap, piep- Architect and Environmental Planner; Lecturer at the University of the Philippines; Lecturer on housing, planning etc in more than thirteen (13) countries including USA, France, Japan etc.
• Arch. Fidel Jose Siapno, fuap- Member of the Board of Architecture for the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC).
• Arch. Michael Tomeldan, uap, piep- Urban and Regional Planning, Land Use Planning, Tourism Planning, Urban Design, Environmental Planning and Transportation Planning; Current Director of the Graduate Program in the University of the Philippines.
• Arch. Rey Gabitan, uap, piep- Architect and Environmental Planner; Current National Executive Vice President of the United Architects of the Philippines.

All entries, upon judging, were number-coded. At the end of the day, forty-two (42) entries met the taste of the judges for another round of screening.
